What is a near death experience? People who have been critically ill, injured or "close to death" but who then survive, give a variety of stories about their experiences. To each of these people that experience is real and often life changing. However, does this represent a glimpse into an after-life? A starting of a journey that we will all go through after death from which they have managed to return? Or are these experiences just dreams, perceptions of a mind that is cutting out due to illness, trauma, drugs, lack of oxygen or similar? If so, are these thoughts or dreams influenced by previous beliefs, experiences or hopes? Certainly there do seem to be different sorts of experiences. Some "fall" out of their bodies, others rise up and look down on themselves. Others still find themselves in another place. Most people who have experienced a near death experience seem to report a feeling of well-being, of calm and not of fear. Many report the presence of a being, person or of a bright light By collecting different experiences, thoughts and views it is our hope that this website might grow to be a place where those who are interested in this phenomenon might find some direction or answers. |
